forblind.org unites people who want to help the visually impaired. The objective of our project is to use technology to improve the quality of life of visually impaired people.
According to the World Health Organization, there are 285 million visually impaired people worldwide. 39 million of them are blind and 246 million
have poor eyesight. About 90% of visually impaired people live in low income countries. 82% of blind people are older than 50.
One of the main problems for such people is access to information. We make equipment and invent technology which will make the world more
accessible for visually impaired people.
We want our ideas and designs to be accessible worldwide, so our products can improve the quality of life of as many visually impaired people as possible. For this reason we prioritize minimizing the cost of our production. We want to attract attention of the whole society and professionals who develop new technologies to the issues and challenges of visually impaired people. Because of that we use croudsourcing platforms to fund and promote our designs. Anybody can join our community and to help us reach the set goals in making the world a better place for visually impaired people.
